2021 Color Trends - Part Two

Image
Hi Everyone Thanks for checking out my blog today.  As I mentioned in my previous blog    I want to have a look at the Sherwin Williams Colormix Forecast palettes for 2021 and I'll feature a couple of paint colors from each of those palettes.  The Colormix Forecast is made up of 4 color palettes with a total of 40 hues (each blog will be a different palette).  While I don't subscribe to the notion that your paint colors need to be on trend, I still thought it would be fun to look at where color is going in the next little while - you'll start to notice these colors showing up in home décor and even fashion.  The 2nd palette in the 2021 Colormix Forecast and the one we are looking at today is called Encounter (the  source  for all this information and photos is Sherwin Williams unless I've stated otherwise). Encounter "Layers of local character — rooted in culture and artisan craft — create an authentic sense of place. The rich but muted hues in this palette convey

Hi Everyone Thanks for checking out my blog today.  Usually about this time of the year we'd be heading south with our trailer for a few months, but for obvious reasons 😔 this year will be different.  Thankfully, so far, we've had a very mild winter but I'm sure that will change soon 😏, after all we do live in the prairies.   In a previous blog  I shared the COTY's for 2021 and I briefly talked about the the Colormix Color Forecast for 2021 by Sherwin Williams.  Over the next four blogs I wanted to dig deeper into the Colormix palettes and I'll share with you some of my favourite paint colors from each of those palettes.  There are 4 color palettes with a total of 40 hues.  While I don't subscribe to the notion that your paint colors need to be on trend, I still thought it would be fun to look at where color is going in the next little while - you'll start to notice these colors showing up in home décor and even fashion.  The first palette I wanted to sha

Is Brown the New Black?

Hi Everyone Thanks for checking out my blog today.  If you had a chance to check out my previous blog  you may have noticed the trend is towards warmer colors, brown being one of them.  I read a quote recently that "brown was the new black" and while I'm not sure I agree with that statement 😉brown is certainly becoming a popular color again.  While I don't adhere to the policy of ensuring your home is on trend, I thought we would delve into into the world of browns just for fun. According to www.verywellmind.com " Brown  is a natural color that evokes a sense of strength and reliability. It's often seen as solid, much like the earth, and it's a color often associated with resilience, dependability, security, and safety."   I've certainly noticed a shift in my color consultations with brown becoming a popular choice again.  Thankfully it's not the same brown of the 70's and 80's but a more mature, sophisticated brown. In my opinion i

Hi Everyone Well we made it through 2020 and we are now onto bigger and brighter 👍things for 2021!  Today I wanted to share with you the color trends for 2021 by the major paint companies.  As you go through the different palettes you may start to notice the trend is towards warmer, earthy colors and a shift away from cooler colors.  I have to admit I've always been more of a fan of the warmer colors, I think they are easier to live with especially in our part of the country as we see so much snow and cold without adding it to our interiors.  I think by adding gray to these warmer tones, it makes them current in today's homes.  Without further ado here are the color trends by 3 major paint companies for 2021. Sherwin Williams I'm going to start with Sherwin Williams as these are the colors I work with most when doing colour consultations.  For 2021 Sherwin Williams announced Urbane Bronze as their COTY.  "Tap into nature with a hue whose warmth and comfort breathe d
