2021 Colors of the Year

Image
Hi Everyone Well we made it through 2020 and we are now onto bigger and brighter πŸ‘things for 2021!  Today I wanted to share with you the color trends for 2021 by the major paint companies.  As you go through the different palettes you may start to notice the trend is towards warmer, earthy colors and a shift away from cooler colors.  I have to admit I've always been more of a fan of the warmer colors, I think they are easier to live with especially in our part of the country as we see so much snow and cold without adding it to our interiors.  I think by adding gray to these warmer tones, it makes them current in today's homes.  Without further ado here are the color trends by 3 major paint companies for 2021. Sherwin Williams I'm going to start with Sherwin Williams as these are the colors I work with most when doing colour consultations.  For 2021 Sherwin Williams announced Urbane Bronze as their COTY.  "Tap into nature with a hue whose warmth...

Hi Everyone Thanks for checking out my blog! Today I wanted to share with you some of my favourite blue paint colors.  I could probably blog about the color blue on a monthly basis (but I won't 😊) as I keeping finding another favourite blue.  When doing consultations, blue continues to be a favourite color choice whether it's for walls, doors, exteriors etc. - and I'm right there with you loving blue!  Blue is a timeless and sophisticated addition to any space - when you are looking for a calming and relaxing color blue naturally comes to mind.  As I generally do my consultations with Sherwin Williams  colors - those are the ones I will be sharing with you today.  My favourite blues are more mid to darker toned blue and some of them have a healthy amount of gray in them.  Scroll through for just a few of my favourites and hopefully they won't leave you feeling blue.πŸ’™ Debonair SW 9139 Debonair has an LRV of of 34 (just a reminder LRV refers to Li...

Sherwin Williams Color of the Year 2021

Image
Hi Everyone Thanks for checking out my blog today.  This time of the year is a favourite of mine, not only do I love the autumn colors but it's also that time of the year when major paint companies start announcing their Color of the Year (COTY). Source Sherwin William COTY 2021 For 2021 Sherwin Williams announced their COTY as Urbane Bronze SW 7048.  I am definitely on board with this color choice for 2021 and beyond.  Urbane Bronze could be best described as a dark brown/gray.  Depending on how you see color it may even lean towards a black for you. This sultry, rich color has a green undertone and has an LRV of 8 so it's definitely a dark color.  Just keep in mind when I mention undertones, depending on your lighting, you may not notice it at all (I have to as that's my job 😊).  I have noticed a shift to more earthy, warm colors in my color consultations so this choice definitely makes sense. “The home is now the ultimate retreat from the world, and col...

My 5 Favourite Warm Neutral Paint Colours from Sherwin Williams

Image
Hi Everyone Thanks for checking out my blog today. For the last few months I have been sharing some of my favourite Sherwin Williams paint colours but I wanted to do things a little differently this month.  Instead of featuring just one paint colour, I wanted to share with you 5 of my favourite, warm neutrals.  What makes them a warm neutrals (I'm sure you are asking yourself 😏)?  I don't want to get too technical but I want to differentiate between what we've been taught in regards to the colour wheel - that warm colours are red, yellow orange etc and the cool colours are blue, green violet etc. For this particular blog when I'm referring to warm neutral, I am not referring to the undertone but instead I'm referring to neutrals that have some amount of beige in them.  It does not necessarily have to be a beige or a tan paint colour - even gray can be a warm neutral provided there is some beige incorporated into it.  I'm not sure if you've noticed but desig...

Fresh Look's Feature Paint Colour for June

Image
Hi Everyone Thanks for checking out my blog.  It's a rainy, gloomy day here today in Calgary so I decided to get busy on my feature paint colour for the month of June.  We've had a late start to spring here but it's finally starting to green up!   I hope things are going well for you as we are slowly returning to, what will probably be for quite a while, our new normal. Fresh Look's Feature Paint Colour for June - Mediterranean SW 7617 Mediterranean by Sherwin Williams is a beautiful teal colour.   Mediterranean is a very livable colour as it does have some gray in it as well.  You've probably heard the colour teal and turquoise used interchangeably but turquoise is a light to medium tone and more blue than green while teal is a darker blue-green.  You'll also hear Peacock blue as another description.  I would refer to Mediterranean as a classic colour - meaning it's a colour that will not date itself over time. In this next picture we used M...
