Feature Walls - On Trend or On their Way Out

Image
Hi Everyone! Thanks so much for checking out my blog.  Today is a gloomy weather day so it felt like a great time to get started at a new blog.  Talking about colour always lifts my mood regardless of the weather. πŸ’“Today I wanted to talk about feature or as they are sometimes called accent walls.  It seems every designer/colour consultant has a different opinion about them.  The one thing I've discovered, the longer I've been in this business, is if you talk to 5 different colour consultants you will get 5 different opinions.  That's why I think it's really important if you are thinking about hiring a professional to help you out with colours that you like their style.   Regardless if a colour application or paint colour is on trend or on it's way out - it's your home, so it's important to implement the colours and design that makes you happy!  I've sure you've heard the saying that "trends come and go but style is forever".   And th...

Fresh Look's Feature Paint Colour for November

Image
Hi Everyone Thanks for checking out my blog!  Can you believe we are into November already?!?  Although here in Calgary we’ve already had quite a few cold and snowy days so I feel like it’s going to be a very long winter. πŸ˜’  As I mentioned in my previous blog there are so many paint colours that I have loved working with over the years, so I decided to start sharing those colours with you. 2020 Colours of the Year

Image
Hi Everyone It's that time of year when the paint companies announce their Colour of the Year for 2020.  I enjoy this time as it's always interesting to see what colour the paint companies choose and why they choose those particular colours.  They spend time researching and travelling around the world, attending design shows and picking up cues from different industries to determine their COTY.  While I don't always πŸ˜‰, I think the colours chosen for 2020 are beautiful, easy to implement and more importantly are livable colours.  So here we go - let me know what you think of the choices this year. Naval by Sherwin Williams For my online and onsite consultations I generally work with Sherwin Williams paint colours so I will start with their choice for 2020 - Naval SW 6244.  I love their choice as I'm a big fan of incorporating navy blue into your home.  Navy blue is quoted as being one of the most relaxing shades of colour.  I've used Naval both...
